“When completing the Footprints curriculum at high school level, what qualification will my child receive and will it be recognised by RSA and international universities or colleges?” ~ Chris, MPA
Answer to Grade 12 Qualifications
Footprints does not offer a full stand-alone range of products from Grades 1-12. Instead, we offer 3 multi-age products which are used by SA homeschoolers as a complement to other programmes that they are following, so that their children will learn about our own country.
Therefore, our high school programme, Footprints into the 21st Century is aimed at ages 12-16 and is not intended to be used for school-leaving purposes.
By Grades 10-12 most homeschoolers choose one of the routes currently available to accomplish school-leaving certificate:
1. National Senior Certificate – offered via distance education by various enterprises
2. Cambridge International Examinations – offered by various institutions or the ‘on your own’ Cambridge Homeschool Matric option
3. Foreign qualifications, such as the American GED and SAT examinations.
