We recommend using a combination of any of the products below during each grade of this phase, as each one alone would probably take about 6 months to complete. For example the Ant books and then a different workbook. They are good complements to each other and will re-inforce your children’s Afrikaans language skills before you move on to the next level.
Workbooks – Leer Afrikaans Lag-Lag and Lekker Afrikaans 6
These workbooks are well-priced and include comprehension activities, grammatical exercises, suggestions for oral activities as well as creative writing activities, spelling, dictation, vocabulary extension plus fun activities such as crosswords and more!
There are also periodic revision tests.
To help second language Afrikaans learners, there are sometimes helpful hints in English along with the Afrikaans instruction.

Ant Books – Workbooks and Readers
Each reader is a 12 page booklet with up to 65 words per page in the present tense. They focus on Stoute Neels at school and are intended to improve vocabulary, word-order, competence, pronunciation and comprehension skills.There is a dictionary page to start and questions at the end of each book.
For Grade 7 second language Afrikaans, your children could use level 4 of the Ant Book series. It consists of two yellow workbooks plus 8 green coloured readers.
The workbooks, based on the set of readers, will improve comprehension, Afrikaans grammar, vocabulary, phonics, spelling, written expression …all aspects of written language. They also contain sufficient repetition and drill as well as fun activities such as crossword puzzles, word searches and more.
