A home educated athlete won gold at an international athletics event in Zimbabwe.
The sixth edition of the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Under-20 Youth Games took place in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in December 2014. Athletes from ten countries participated in events for swimming, judo, boxing, soccer, tennis, athletics, basket ball, netball and a number of IPC (disabled) events.
Home educated athlete, Bianca Conradie, from KZN won the gold medal for the Junior Women’s Discus with a throw of 44,25m.
Bianca trains at CKS Athletics Club. She is coached by her father Willie, and managed by Clyde Kinloch.
South Africa have previously dominated among the Region 5 countries which include: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland and Mauritius.
in 2014 South Africa was once again the overall winning country after hauling a massive 64 gold medals and 121 medals in total.
